Loto Effect

26 January 2021

The Loto effect achieved on the surface of PIZ panels through the use of a particular nanomaterial-based technology during production is extremely efficient. The advantages include a significant increase in the contact angle between water and the panel surface, now reaching approximately 140° (increase in surface energy). This results in a high water repellency and, therefore, a reduction of over 50% in water absorption through surface capillarity, which is already quite good in traditional PIZ panels. Additionally, the high surface pH value (around pH 14) prevents the growth of mold or microorganisms, ensuring a higher aesthetic durability of the facade coated with the PIZ system. It also allows for longer intervals between facade maintenance cleanings, resulting in lower management costs. Ultimately, it provides a high degree of self-cleaning for the facade.
