PIZ is the name of the insulation cladding system produced and marketed by PIZ SRL, a part of the Zecca S.p.A. group in Cosio Valtellino, since the '90s for commercial and industrial structures. Over the years, thanks to continuous innovation and technological research, its application has also expanded to residential buildings.
Developments and improvements have remained at the core of Zecca SPA's philosophy. In this context, the company recently participated in the "BIPVBOOST" project co-funded by the European Commission. Thanks to this, with the support of European and Swiss research institutions, they have been able to develop the product called "e-Piz".
It consists of a composite element obtained by integrating the PIZ cladding product with various photovoltaic (PV) technologies. The system aims to combine a conventional PIZ product with a photovoltaic element to create a BIPV (building-integrated photovoltaic) cladding system capable of providing electricity production, high thermal insulation, and a good level of acoustic insulation, all within a unique dry-laid cladding system.
Engineers Fabio Parolini (SUPSI) and Claudio Pirotta (PIZ) presented this technology, along with local artisans, technicians, and authorities, during the meeting held on 31/03/2023, promoted by the Zecca group company, at the residential building in Piazza Aldo Moro 10, Morbegno.
